The number of people killed by the earthquake in Afghanistan has exceeded 2 thousand, while the search for those who are still breathing under the ruins of the fallen buildings continues.

The 6.3-magnitude earthquake that occurred after a series of 8 earthquakes destroyed many villages in the Herat region, where the situation was worse when buildings collapsed after falling on people.

The spokesperson of the country's governor, Bilal Karimi, said that it is unfortunate that the number of deaths is increasing rapidly, saying that the damage caused by the earthquake is obvious.

Speaking to the French news agency AFP this morning, Bilali said that the government is still waiting to see the final figures on the number of people who will be killed by the earthquake before starting the plan to rehabilitate or support the victims.

The World Health Organization has released the figures of more than 600 houses that have collapsed, which displaced more than 4,200 people in 12 villages of Herat province.

Bashir Ahmad, one of the victims of the incident, confirmed to the French news agency AFP that when they were shaken, all the houses around their neighborhood collapsed.

Bashir said that the collapsed buildings buried the occupants, where he said that there is still no news of even a single person from his family who was killed by the building.
