 One of the five students abducted from Dutsin-Ma University has been released

Kidnappers have released one of the five students who were abducted from the Federal University of Dutsen-ma in Katsina state in the northwest of Nigeria.

This comes after the students spent 45 days in the hands of the bandits.

In an interview with the BBC, the president of the party confirmed the release of one of the students, but did not clarify whether money was paid before her release.

On the 4th of October some robbers broke into the students' dormitories and took them to an unknown place.

This is coming a few days after the kidnapping of some students at the Federal University of Gusau.

Kidnapping people for ransom is a problem that plagues the northern part of Nigeria, where robbers often attack the community in villages and schools.
