'The police will take action against those who want to create chaos in Kano'
The Nigerian Police Force in Kano State has said that it will take strict action against anyone who attempts to incite violence after the court's decision on the state governorship election case.
This was contained in a statement issued by the police force today Monday through its spokesperson in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
The statement said it issued the warning "after receiving information that there are some groups of supporters of other parties who are trying to organize demonstrations on the streets of Kano to express their displeasure over the decision of the Court of Appeal regarding the election." the governor of the state.
The statement added that "information says that those who are organizing the protest want to stop the activities in Kano state which could cause unrest."
Last Friday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja awarded Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the APC party the victory in the Kano state governorship election, annulling the victory of the incumbent governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP party.
The court ruling said Abba was not eligible to be a candidate for governor because he did not meet certain criteria.
