An Alabama hospital has suspended IVF, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a fetus is a minor under the law.
The hospital said it took the action to avoid a situation that would make doctors or patients fall into the trap of facing legal action.
Last week, the court ruled that the law recognizes the status of a human being from the day he is conceived.
A group in favor of artificial insemination said that this decision will prevent some hospitals in the United States from carrying out such an operation for those who need it.
She described the decision, and the steps taken by the hospitals, as a major event that shows the difficult situation that some will go through in parts of the United States.
Gabby Goidel, a woman who is hoping to have an in vitro fertilization (IVF) operation to have a baby, after having 3 miscarriages, expressed her opinion on it.
"I was very sad when I heard about the decision of the court, because this is a step that will prevent me, and other people from the opportunity to fulfill our desire to have children in this way. There is a need for people to know that this is my situation pregnancy, is a situation that many couples are in, and directly this step will cripple their desire to have a family and achieve success in life.
My only request is to protect my freedom to have children."
