Anti-Rwanda Protesters Burn Western Flags
Some anti-Rwanda protesters burned the flags of Western countries yesterday Monday in the city of Goma in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Many protesters covered themselves with the DRC flag, trampling the flags of the United States, the European Union, France and Poland.
They also carried placards that read: "Stop the genocide in DRC," "France = M23/Rwanda," and "Anyone who is silent also has their hands up."
An activist told AFP, "Rwanda is killing us every day, and the world is supporting it, that's why we burned these flags," he said.
The protesters, who are mostly young people, marched from the city center to the road to Sake before turning back. The Goma City Council prohibited the demonstration, but the demonstration was held peacefully, without any confrontation between the police and the army.
