Bandits attacked and kidnapped more than 30 people in Kaduna
Reports from Nigeria state that gunmen attacked the towns of Gwada and Kwassam in Igabi and Kauru local governments in Kaduna State, where they killed nine people and wounded at least seven, and kidnapped more than 30 people, including and the former director of the Central Bank of the country, CBN.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Southern Kaduna Community Association (SOKAPU), Josiah Abraks, he confirmed the attack by the bandits in Kwassam town.
He said that the attackers kidnapped about 50 people in an attack on the village of Sabon Layi.
Abraks called on the state government and the security forces to take action against the attackers who frequently attack the southern areas of Kaduna.
However, in a statement issued by the state government through the Commissioner for Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, the government confirmed the attacks but did not shed more light on those who died or were kidnapped.
The statement quoted the governor of the state, Uba Sani as condemning the attacks and sympathizing with the people affected by the incident, calling on the military to intensify attacks on the gunmen in the area.
The governor also sent a team of government representatives under the leadership of the Commissioner for Internal Security, to the town where the incident took place, where they met with the traditional rulers of the area and the religious leaders of the area.
Kaduna State is one of the states in the country that is suffering from security problems, where bandits kidnap people for ransom.
