 Biden announced more than 500 more sanctions against Russia

The United States announced the imposition of more than five hundred sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and the death of the country's opposition leader, Alexei Navalny.

The sanctions apply to people involved in the detention of Navalny and the war with Russia, as announced by President Joe Biden.

Export restrictions will be imposed on about 100 companies or individuals.

The European Union also announced some sanctions to which Russia responded by banning European Union officials from entering its country.

There is no further information on the impact the sanctions will have on the Russian economy.

In a statement, President Biden said that the sanctions will ensure that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, will taste his money because of his domestic and international fraud.

The sanctions come a week after the deaths of Fuja and Navalny in a prison in the freezing Arctic. Mr. Biden said there is no doubt about the Russian president's allegations.

They are also coming on the eve of the two-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"Two years ago, he tried to wipe Ukraine off the map. If Putin doesn't get his money's worth because of his death and destruction, it's going to get worse," Mr. Biden said in a statement.

The European Union has announced sanctions on nearly two hundred companies and individuals suspected of helping Russia obtain weapons and involvement in the kidnapping of Ukrainian children, something Russia has denied.

In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry said it has expanded the list of EU officials and politicians it has banned from entering its country.
