Cost of Living: Bakery owners in Nigeria to go on general strike
The Bakeries Association of Nigeria, Ambcn has threatened to go on general strike from February 27 due to the poor business conditions.
The national chairman of the Kogi state branch, Chief Adeniyi Bamidele Gabriel, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lokoja during a press conference.
He said the statement was contained in a joint statement issued by the president of the national association, Alhaji Mansur Umar and the secretary of the national association, Mr. Jude Okafor.
He explained that the group started closing shops because of the high prices of the ingredients they use in baking such as flour, sugar, yeast, kerosene, petrol and diesel, all because of the removal of fuel subsidies and the imbalance in the currency exchange market. high taxes by government agencies.
The association has asked for the suspension of all types of taxes on bakers at the federal, state and local government levels.
