 India has asked its citizens serving in the military in Russia to return home

India has asked Russia to immediately release some of its citizens who are supporting the Russian army in the neighboring country, calling on the citizens to stay away from the ongoing war in Ukraine that has been going on for two years.

The announcement by India's Ministry of External Affairs comes after the Hindu newspaper reported that around 100 Indians were hired last year under a one-year contract.

Many countries have asked to work with the Russian army, including India's neighbor Nepal.

The Russian embassy in New Delhi did not comment on India's request, although the two countries have close relations, especially in the field of trade and security.

Last month, Nepal stopped giving permission to its citizens to work in Russia and Ukraine after it was announced that at least 10 Nepali soldiers were killed while they were in the field of helping Russia.

In February 2022, Russia invaded its neighbor Ukraine in what it called a special military attack.

Tens of thousands of soldiers from both sides died in the war, which is considered the worst in Europe since the Second World War.
