The Federal Government Is About To Start Allocating Funds To 15 Million Households
This comes as a result of the difficult situation that millions of Nigerians are facing due to the high prices of basic goods and food and the continued decline in the value of the Naira.
In the past there were about 3 million Nigerians benefiting from the program, now the federal government has added 12 million households that will benefit from the financial support program, as a result of the rising cost of living, where the number of households will go back to 15 million.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Development of Nigeria, Wale Edun, disclosed this during a policy review meeting held on Wednesday, February 21, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The Minister added that the President's Committee on Community Support Program is about to meet with President Bola Tinubu and advise him on reviving the program to provide financial support directly to the poorest and most needy Nigerians.
"We are aware that there are about 3 million people who are benefiting from the program at the moment, but looking at how things have progressed, it is estimated that there are about 12 million people who can participate in the program."
According to the Minister, the purpose of expanding the program is only for more people who are suffering from the hardships of life and giving money directly to those who need them, so that they can choose what they prefer from among the needs and relieve them of poverty.
He added that the purpose of telling the president about what the committee passed before presenting the final report is to draw his attention to this development, where he said that technology will be used to ensure that the program is conducted in a transparent and transparent manner, where the way of eating by force and wasting time will be avoided.
