The House of Representatives Approves 37 Additional Local Governments in Lagos - They Will Be Added to Kano and Katsina

The Nigerian House of Representatives has approved the second reading of the bill seeking to increase the number of local governments in Lagos State from 20 to 57, which will make Lagos join Kano and Katsina in the number of local governments.

If this bill is passed unanimously, the number of local governments in Nigeria will increase from 774 to 811.

The bill, which was tabled by 22 members of parliament, including James Faleke, Babajimi Benson, and Enitan Badru, seeks to give the 37 areas of Lagos full status as local governments.

Initially, these LCDAs were created in 2003 when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the governor of Lagos.

Is this action fair to other states, especially Kano and Katsina?  What do you think?  Discuss in the comments section!
