Remi Tinubu donates N1bn, rice, shoes to Niger disaster victims

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has provided N1 billion and relief items in times of crisis to human beings who have been affected by various catastrophes through her Renewed Hope Initiative.
In the symbolic presentation event held in Minna on Tuesday, Mrs. Tinubu stated that she has come to express her solidarity with the government and people of the state following an action which created a tragedy with the terrible flood experienced at Mokwa that claimed lives of people and displaced many households.
She expressed how much she could sympathize with them when she said, as a fellow mother, I could relate to their pains and sorrow and that we will all pass this tragic experience.
The First lady commended swift response of President Bola Tinubu, particularly in requesting that flood relief materials be dispatched immediately and reconstruction of destroyed houses.
According to her, the gift comprising of N1 billion, 2,000 bags of 50 kg of rice, and shoes were aimed at aiding and assisting the people affected.
Her message was that kindness is the strength of the country and this time more than ever, everybody should look after one another.
Furthermore, the wife of the president indicated that Governing Council of Renewed Hope initiative and the Tony Elumelu foundation had accepted to see 500 women who are financially ahead in a programme referred to as Economic Empowerment.
The first lady of Niger Umaru Bago, in her speech, as a governor of Niger, thanked the first lady who came to the state to show her support following the tragedies that had occurred in the state.
Bago discussed the uniqueness of the geography of the state. According to him, Niger was the only riverine state to have streams connected with the Niger River and Kaduna River which increased its chances of flooding.
He thanked the first lady by acknowledging her efforts and stated that the program on renewal of hope had transformed the lives of many in the nation.
Able to be concerned and love others is the way of jeering leadership in our country. Instead he said, "Keep on track."
On the part of the victims, the governor told them the state had received N1 billion in relief funds as grants through the state emergency response account. There existed also of 2,000 bags of rice and 16,000 wrappers more than 100 pair of shoes.
Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Secretary to Niger Government, expressed this point in his welcome speech when he said that visit by Mrs. Tinubu indicated that she was interested in the well being of the Nigerians, particularly women, children and the weak.
According to him, this project speaks volumes about her desire to have the Nigerians become more welcoming and robust; the humanitarian assistance is both physically and psychologically terminating.
