Less than 24 hours after 90% of them joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), this happened.
On Wednesday, a political commentator named Imran Wakili made a statement to this effect on X.He added, "Dangote Refinery has officially fired all of its Nigerian workers under the guise of "reorganization," less than 24 hours after 90% of them joined PENGASSAN."
Wakili said this happened less than 24 hours after 90% of them joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
A memo from September 25, 2025, signed by Femi Adekunle, the Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, said that Wakili posted on X. The company said the decision was made as part of a "total re-organization" of the plant after reports of sabotage in different parts of the refinery.
The message told the affected employees to give all company property they had to their line supervisors and get permission to leave.
The finance department was also told to figure out how much benefits and pay people according to their employment conditions.The refinery's management congratulated the fired workers for their work while they were still employed there.
In an interview with DAILY POS, Festus Osifo of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) said that Dangote Refinery fired all of its Nigerian staff once they joined the union.
Osifo, who was also the head of Nigeria's Trade Union Congress, promised that the corporation would change its mind.
"Yes, that's right. We saw the last one late last night (Wednesday).He told the DAILY POST, "I can promise you that they will remember all of them."
As of press time, the management of the Dangote Refinery has not yet spoken anything about the situation.
