The Mexican content maker shared her life online with almost 43,000 TikTok followers.
Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, an influencer, has died at the age of 32.
On August 22, four bodies were discovered abandoned and wrapped in plastic inside a pickup truck in Guadalajara's San Andrés district, according to prosecutor Alfonso Gutierrez Santillan. Several days later, El Financiero, a Mexican daily, identified the content author, her 36-year-old husband, and their two children, ages 13 and 7.
According to El Financiero, three men who worked at a mechanic shop where the vehicle holding the dead was abandoned were arrested but later released due to a lack of evidence linking them to the crimes.
Local officials are still investigating the family's demise.
Garibay's TikTok account, Esmeralda FG, was created in April 2020, when she started adding funny lip-syncing video on her profile. As the account rose to almost 43,000 followers, she shifted to lifestyle and travel posts.
The influencer published a video of herself driving her automobile on her ranch on August 7, her penultimate post before her demise. Garibay also posted a video of her fluffy white dog running about on her lawn earlier this month.
Following her passing, followers left tributes in the comments section of her final post.
"May God grant mercy to her and her family 💔 In a translated message, one user said, "Something you don't wish on anyone."
