Nigerians have been advised by one of their long-time highlife singers, Bright Chimezie, to re-examine the burgeoning japa trend, or run away to foreign shores in pursuit of greener pastures but the singer said that grass is not always greener on the other side.
Chimezie shared his experience in The Honest Bunch Podcast of how several Nigerians go to foreign nations and end up in trouble they had never anticipated despite having big expectation of a better life.

The African-style singer emphasized that Nigeria also has great opportunities to people ready to find them and invest in them. Chimezie also added that the current way of thinking in Nigeria was as a result of colonialism, which led to many individuals in the country underestimating themselves and the country.
When the white people arrived, it transformed the way we used to think and the way we developed. It would make our society much better, would we learn biology and maths with the same enthusiasm as we read the Bible, said he.
His sayings have generated mixed reactions among people on the internet. According to some Nigerians, patriotism and local innovation is significant to the development of the country, whereas others claim that bad government continues to push people out to a better life in foreign countries.
