The CW's sports show A great player is leaving All American. The show's lead actor, Daniel Ezra, who has played rising high school football star Spencer James since the beginning, will not be back for season 7. This was revealed by Entertainment Weekly. Ezra is likely to show up as a guest.

In Monday's episode of season 6, "Victory Lap," Ezra's character finally got draughted into the NFL. The episode ended with a time jump that showed Spencer playing in the Super Bowl and proposing to his love Olivia (Samantha Logan).
According to Deadline, Ezra and showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll made the choice to leave on a creative level before filming for season 6 began. This disproves rumours that the budget was cut.
Ezra told Deadline, "After making the hard choice to leave All American, my only goal became to finish the journey of the most life-affirming character I've ever played in the way he deserves." "Nkechi and the writers made my wish come true. Spencer says goodbye at the end of Season 6. I will miss him. I'll miss our team and cast. I hope it was as much fun to watch him as it was to play him.

When EW asked Ezra's representative for comment, they didn't answer right away. The first season of All American came out in 2018 and followed Ezra's football player as he moved from South Crenshaw High to a new school and team in Beverly Hills. In an episode that aired in early June, the show said goodbye to the late Kamar de los Reyes and his character Coach Montes. De los Reyes died late last year of cancer. The show ended Coach Montes' story by showing that he had gotten a job with the NFL.
