 Those who have been trapped in a shock snow fall near mount Everest have reported of getting cold in the snow that just kept falling, and rescue teams continue to extract large numbers of people out of the area.

 Chinese state media reported that at least one of the hikers has already died and that more than 200 of them are still trapped in the eastern side of Everest in Tibet, a popular destination among climbers and hikers.

 The snow began on Friday evening, and increased on the weekend.  Hundreds of relief workers and villagers have been deployed to clear the snow that is causing difficulties in reaching the area at an altitude of over 4,900m (16,000ft).

 Rescuers have taken 350 people to safety in small village called Qudang.  The police are communicating with all the remaining hikers who are still trapped. Many guests came to the region on the Golden Week in China including a nature photographer by the name of Dong Shuchang.

 He was eager to make photographs of the Himalayas on the Tibetan slopes, and in the afternoon of Saturday, but a few hours after he commenced his walk, it began to snow.

 The lightning and thunder would not cease.  In the snow there was so much that Mr. Dong could hardly sleep.

 He and his team had already reached an altitude of 4,600m before they made a turnaround.

 Our windbreakers and raincoats could not keep us warm in the snow that was too cold.  His 20-person group was wet and some of them appeared too to be cold.

 The 27-year-old said that he has been to the Himalayas over a dozen times. But I have never seen weather like this. Wet snow and ice blocked the path off the trail of Mr. Dong.

 "Everyone moved slowly."  On that road it was very slippery.  The ice kept making me fall.

 His party spent the night in a hotel room at Qudang and made use of a generator to run their lighting.

 It had been quite some time before the snow had ceased, when they drove out of the hotel this morning.

 Mr Dong was climbing with Chen Geshuang when the group set out on Sunday, and he said that the amount of snow was approximately one metre deep then.

 Good, we have hiked before, said Ms. Chen.  However, it was still extremely difficult to cope with this snowstorm.  I got out so lucky." The snow this year was great, said the 29 year old nature lover. One of the other women interviewed by BBC said that her husband who had been trapped in the weather was gradually coming down the mountains but very slowly due to deep snow.

 It is a hard thing even to rescuers, as they must clear the snow to pass by, and when his name was not desired, the woman said.

 I want my husband to make it to his team and the rescue team.

 According to the woman, her husband informed her that he did not sleep much in his tent as he was scared of being buried in the snow.

 Eric Wen, another hiker, was interviewed by Reuters and he said that three of his group got cold despite being dressed well.

 The snow was so thick they could not sleep and his group had to clear the snow after every 10 minutes. Otherwise our tents had fallen down. The one week national day rest in China is known as the Golden Week and this is an ideal time to visit this nation.

 The month of October is one of the best months to hike in the mount everest region as the weather is normally pleasant.

 Many of the walkers have been visiting the Karma Valley trail which takes one to the base of Everest that is not popular but has spectacular views of the tallest mountain in the world.

 Many attempt to climb to the top each year and the path is believed to be highly risky.

 Over the last several years, there have been concerns regarding crowds, environmental destruction, and a number of fatal attempts to climb it.

 At the moment, there is the worst weather in the area. Nepal is its neighbor right away and in the process of it the heavy rains and floods have taken at least 47 lives, halted roads and swept away bridges.

 Typhoon Matmo struck the eastern side of China that is on the opposite end of the country resulting in approximately 150,000 people displacing their homes.
