2023: We will cooperate with INEC to stop vote buying - EFCC Abdulrasheed Bawa
The Anti-Corruption Commission, EFCC, has said that it will continue to cooperate with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to curb vote-buying, especially during the 2023 general election.
The Chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, stated this in an interview with the press in Abuja today Thursday, shortly after the finalization of the 2023 budget of the agency before the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption.
"We will continue to do what we have to do, we are trying to ensure that illegal money does not have access to our elections," he said.
Bawa said the agency will cooperate with INEC to arrest and prosecute those who are involved in buying votes.
The head of the commission said that the trial of those who were arrested for buying votes in the previous elections is continuing in court.
Bawa also thanked the National Assembly for supporting the agency, through some important laws designed to further assist it in carrying out its duties.
