Abuja to Kaduna to Kano road has been suspended due to security threats
The federal government has said that the repair work on the Abuja to Kaduna to Kano road has been suspended due to security threats following the train attack in March 2022. The Minister of State for Works, Hon. Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub, stated this when he paid a visual visit to Kaduna East Road.
In a statement issued by the director of media and public relations, Blessing Lere-Adams, on Friday, El-Yakub said that contrary to rumors that the contract has been abandoned, soon work will not continue due to increased security on the road.
Our correspondent reports that drivers have complained about the situation in front of the main highway from Abuja to Kaduna to Kano. "After it was discovered that the road has deteriorated due to the rain, the work will soon continue on the road due to the progress made in the field of security in the area," said the Minister.
However, he said that the contractors have been working on the second and third sections of the road for a long time, adding that the work has reached the right level and the work will be carried out on time. He said, "We are still confident that the second and third phases will be completed between now and the first quarter of next year."
The minister complained that the contract given by the previous government in 2002 was ignored until the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari started working. The minister assured Nigerians that the road project will be given a lot of attention to ensure its completion as soon as possible, noting that there is no government that is committed to providing infrastructure including roads. , train, airport, health or modern communication like the current government.
