700 million: The EFCC has again prosecuted the former governor of Kaduna, Ramalan Yero.

 "The Economic Fraud Commission, EFCC, on November 21, 2022, re-arraigned the former governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero before Justice R.M Aikawa of the Federal High Court in sitting in Kaduna on eight charges that have been amended, the re-trial follows the transfer of the former judge of the court, Justice M.G Umar from the state.

 The EFCC is prosecuting Yero along with Nuhu Somo Wya (a former minister), Ishaq Hamsa (former secretary to the Kaduna state government), and Abubakar Gaiya Haruna (former chairman of the PDP party in the state) for allegedly committing the crime.  alleged to be involved in receiving and disbursing a sum of 700 million nairas paid by the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke to influence the outcome of the 2015 presidential election.

 "At today's hearing, the plaintiff's lawyer, Nasiru Salele, told the court that the defendants were re-arraigned, so he requested the court to ask them to answer the case after the charges were read to the defendants-  and all of them answered 'not guilty.

 One of those reformed said: "Kai Muktar Ramalan ero (when he was the Governor of Kaduna State), Nuhu Somo Wya (when he was a former Minister of the Union of Nigeria) and Abubakar Gaiya Haruna (when he was its President.
