The car that Kwankwaso gave me as a gift helped me escape the bomb attack in 2014, says President Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari recalled the armored car that the former governor of Kano, Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso gave him to help him survive the bomb attack in Kaduna in 2014.
He stated this in a special historical program titled 'Essential Muhammadu Buhari', shown yesterday Sunday.
The Cable recalled that in July 2014, Buhari's motorcade was bombed in the Kawo area of Kaduna state.
Buhari, who was running for the presidency at the time, said that he was the one who carried out the bomb attack, which caused the death of many people.
Commenting on the incident in the program, Buhari said that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the governor of Kano at the time, gave him the car he was in when the explosion happened.
"Konkwaso has given me this car as a gift. He gave me an armored Land Rover," said Buhari.
"He said that I should use it because in the circumstances of the challenges I am facing, there may be some bad people to destroy me.
"I was on my way to Kano from Kaduna in that jeep when a car tried to cut us off but its escorts stopped it, that's when they detonated the bomb.
"When I looked, I saw human body parts. None of us were hurt in the car. But somehow I saw blood on my body because of the number of people that the bomb killed there," said Buhari
