Northern traders have expressed their support to Zamfara Governor, Bello Mutawalle for his decision to refuse to accept old Nairori in his state.
A Union of Traders in the Sokoto region has expressed its support and praise for the decision taken by the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Muhammadu Mutawalle in relation to the order to punish anyone who refuses to accept old naira during business dealings in his state.
One of the businessmen of Tireda, Alhaji Sanusi Daudu Nufawa said this at a press conference in Sokoto.
Alhaji Sanusi explained that this action taken by Zamfara Governor Bello Mutawale on Thursday is the same as the decision of the Supreme Court which said, to continue to work with the old nairori until it decides. Therefore, someone who comes to fight to collect money is like showing disapproval of the decision or undermining the economy and causing confusion.
He said that from the time the problem of exchange of money to the new currency emerged, the business and economic situation of the community, especially the businessmen in Sokoto, has gone backwards so much that there has been loss and destruction of businesses in the Northern region, especially in the states of Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara. and Kebbi where small businesses use naira and kobo.
Alhaji Sanusi said, indeed, the businessmen of Sokoto big and small are happy with this decision of Zamfara Governor Bello Mutawalle in this period, this has resulted in the increase of business routes, where the businessmen from Sokoto go to Gusau to buy more than other neighboring states. .
As a result, he called on other governors and security officers in the region to take such action as soon as possible to save business relations in the community.
Recently the governor of Zamfara, Bello Mutawalle has ordered the security forces to arrest and punish anyone who accepts old naira during business dealings in Zamfara state.
