Former NBA and UNC giant Eric Montross diagnosed with cancer at the age of 51
Eric Montross, who is 51 years old, has been told he has cancer and will start treatment soon. His family has released a statement after coming to terms with the news.

In an emotional statement, Montross's family promised to beat cancer "one day at a time." No one knows what kind of cancer he has. Montross was picked by the NBA in the first round of the draught in 1994. Since then, he has been working as a radio analyst for the basketball team at the University of North Carolina.
Montross, who is 51, will start getting help at the Lineberger Center at UNC in North Carolina. The news was shared on Saturday by the Montross family through the official Twitter account for the UNC basketball team.
Eric, Laura, Andrew, and Sarah Montross said in the statement, "Eric was just told he has cancer, and the world-class oncologists, nurses, and staff at the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center are taking care of him as he starts treatment." "Our family is, of course, very worried, but we have been fighting against children's cancer for almost 30 years, so we know how far oncology treatments have come and how much love, prayer, support, and a positive attitude can help.
"We are all moved by how people have responded to our family since the news got out. Your help is more than appreciated; it's needed to beat cancer one day at a time.
"The only way we know how to deal with Eric's diagnosis is to face it head-on as a family. We're all fighting this battle together."
