General elections: FG stopped 200 cyberattacks, Says to Galaxy Backbone
According to Prof. Muhammad Abubakar, managing director of Galaxy Backbone, over 200 cyberattacks were thwarted by the Federal Government during the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Abubakar made the revelation on Tuesday in Abuja during the first session of a two-day ministerial training for board members and management personnel.
Preparing the GBB Team for Successful Management and Leadership in the Fourth Industrial Revolution was the training's subtitle.
"We were able to block more than 200 attacks on election day alone, and the next day, the attacks geometrically escalated to over 1.2 million and were all blocked from our own enterprises," he claimed.
He claimed that a committee for business continuity and cyberspace protection had been established to safeguard and control online activity while improving the GBB's technical services.
According to Abubakar, the training's objectives were to evaluate the agency's performance and launch new revenue-generating strategies.
Isa Pantami, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy stated that the training's main goal was to assess and reassess Galaxy Backbone Limited's management and leadership in order to produce the best results possible.
The training's facilitator, Pantami, praised GBB's strategy for developing digital infrastructure while reducing the cost of governance.

According to The News Agency of Nigeria, the ministry established a committee for the security of the information and communication technology infrastructure on February 23 in preparation for the general elections of 2023.
