Liverpool fans' Champions League final tickets will be refunded by UEFA.
Following an investigation, it was discovered that a string of organizational mistakes "nearly led to a calamity" outside the Stade de France. As a result, UEFA announced on Tuesday that it will refund all Liverpool fans' tickets for the 2022 Champions League final.
The 19,618 tickets allocated to Liverpool are all covered by the refund program, and fans will receive their full ticket price back from the organization that oversees European football. Tickets to the incident-plagued final in Paris in May cost anywhere from £59.40 to £585.70.
Liverpool was involved in the decision-making process because they had a say in the first conversations.
The reimbursement follows the indiscriminate use of tear gas on their supporters, which caused crashes outside the stadium prior to kickoff but was first attributed to them by UEFA and the French authorities.
Both eventually denied such allegations, and a UEFA-commissioned assessment later praised their behavior and claimed that the two governing bodies' organizational shortcomings might have had disastrous repercussions.
