The government has imposed a curfew throughout Zamfara state
The Zamfara State Government has announced the imposition of a curfew throughout the state from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.
The decision comes after the declaration of the results of the state governorship election, where the incumbent governor, Bello Matawalle, lost to the PDP candidate, Dauda Lawal Dare.
According to a statement issued by the state's Information Commissioner, Ibrahim Dosara on Tuesday, he said that they took the action considering how people have vandalized property in the name of celebrating the election.
The statement said, "The Zamfara State Government has noted the unfortunate nature of the destruction of government property and private property, in the name of celebrating the election announced yesterday."

"The reports we have received show that there have been casualties, houses have been burnt and shops have been vandalised.
"Because we have to spit on our noses, the government has decided to impose a curfew throughout the state from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.
"We are instructing the security officers to ensure that this law is properly followed," said the announcement.
