The Governor-elect of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, has explained why he does not want to be called "His Excellency" when he is sworn in to take over the Katsina government on May 29.
He said he would prefer to be called "Mr. Governor or Malam Dikko Raddda" but he does not want to be called "His Excellency", until after he completes his term.
Radda said this on Saturday in Abuja, when he was talking to the media.
Radda was elected under APC, he got 859,892 votes, beating Yakubu Lado of PDP, who got 486,620 votes.
"I don't want to be sworn in as "His Excellency", because it is a word that shows that the governor has fulfilled everything, he has done all the things that he should do, and the responsibilities that he has to do. he dropped.
"But if I can be called His Excellency after I complete my term if the people see that I have done good deeds. That's why it's better to take the call of Mr. Governor, it's easier for me.
"I want to feel that I am the same as everyone else because I don't want to be called 'Excellence' to the point that I am puffed up." I would prefer to be called Mr. Dikko Raddda."
If you remember, in 2019, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos removed "His Excellency" from his name. The former Governor of Osun, Rauf Aregbesola, who ruled from 2010 to 2018, was referred to as "Ogbeni", instead of "His Excellency".
As for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, he is nicknamed "Arakunrin", which is Mister in Yoruba.
Speaking on the agenda of his government, Radda said that if he is sworn in, he will focus more on the security problem that afflicts Katsina State.
