All About Keshia Knight Pulliam's Daughter (and the Baby on the Way!)

Keshia Knight Pulliam is excited to have a second child.

In December 2022, the actress from The Cosby Show announced that she and her husband, Brad James, whom she married in October 2021, are expecting their first child together. A few months later, the couple told everyone that they will have a boy.

Pulliam and her ex-husband, Ed Hartwell, also have a 5-year-old daughter named Ella. He asked Pulliam for a divorce in July 2016, after they had been married for six months and Pulliam had told him that she was pregnant with a girl. The former NFL player also asked for a test to prove he was the father.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pulliam talked about the split "It's one thing to choose to be the center of attention. When you have a child, things change. It's not about me, either." She also said that her daughter was her top priority and that "she doesn't deserve it." She then said, "Despite everything, I'm thankful for my blessing, and that's my little girl."

The Beauty Shop star gave birth to Ella Grace in January 2017, and the mother and daughter have had many sweet moments together since then. Ella is also happy to have a sister.

Pulliam told Entertainment Tonight, "She is excited to be a great big sister." "She has known for a long time, so she did a great job keeping the secret because she knew from the start. I told Ella, "Listen, you can't tell anyone," so now she'll ask, "Do they know about the baby? Can I tell them?" So, she can now tell everyone she wants."

Here's everything you need to know about Keshia Knight Pulliam's daughter and her unborn son.

Ella Grace Hartwell, age 5

On January 23, 2017, Pulliam gave birth to her daughter, Ella Grace Hartwell. She shared the news on Instagram with a cute picture and the words "Ella Grace has arrived!!!!"

Pulliam and Hartwell were going through a rough divorce when she was born, and Hartwell asked for a paternity test.

In August 2016, Pulliam said that the breakup and the pain it caused had a big impact on the middle name she chose for her daughter.

Pulliam said on an episode of her podcast, Kandidly Keshia, "The grace of God has so been with us and has covered and protected us through all of this. She's been my saving grace to get through it." "It's knowing that it's not about me, but about her," she said. It's about making sure she's okay."

Ella, who is now 5, lives most of the time in Atlanta with Pulliam and her stepdad, James. Ella seems to like living on a farm with her family.

Ella began taking horseback riding lessons in the summer of 2022. "My big girl is now taking riding lessons, and I'm so proud of her! She loves horses, just like me," Pulliam wrote in an Instagram post, adding, "I'm glad I now have a little riding partner.""

Pulliam and her daughter do more than just ride horses together. In another Instagram post, she showed a picture of Ella meditating, writing, "For years, meditation has been an important part of how I take care of myself every day. Seeing Ella meditating with a rainbow unicorn as I walked by just made my day."

Pulliam has said that it is possible that she will go into the same field as her mother. "She knows that Mommy is an actress," the actress told Entertainment Tonight in a 2020 interview. "She asked me the other day, 'Mommy, can I be an actor when I grow up?'" She also said, "I will support Ella no matter what she decides to do in the end."

Ella is also close to her stepfather, and Pulliam often posts cute pictures of Ella and her stepfather, James, spending time together. In February 2022, James's proud mom posted a photo of him getting a makeover from Ella with the caption, "Love is getting your nails painted blue and proudly wearing them out in public!! #GirlDad."

Keshia Knight Pulliam is going to have a boy.

Pulliam and James started dating in 2019 after they met on the set of Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta. A year later, the For Better or Worse actor asked her to marry him. Pulliam's rep told PEOPLE that the pair was engaged and that they were "excited to find their happily ever after." They got married in a small ceremony at their Atlanta home in September 2022.

A few months after they got married, Pulliam told PEOPLE that she had frozen her eggs. She said, "I started the process of freezing my eggs." She then went on to say that COVID-19 meant that a number of other procedures had to be canceled. "So, I couldn't keep going," she said.

Even though she and James were disappointed that they had to put their plans on hold, they were still "open to getting pregnant the old-fashioned way."

Now, after almost a year of being together, they are expecting their first child.

Pulliam and James talked about the exciting news on The Tamron Hall Show in December 2022.

Pulliam told the host that it felt "so good" to finally talk about her pregnancy in public. She explained, "It's not that I've been trying to hide it, but when you've had a miscarriage and been through all this, you just want to enjoy this moment and make sure everything is OK."

She went on to say that Ella was "so excited to be a big sister" in response to the news. She also said that her daughter often talks to the baby.

Pulliam wrote on Instagram along with a video of her and James on the set of the talk show that she had just been on, "Oh, Baby! Baby James is on the way in 2023!"

In March 2023, the couple posted on Instagram together to say that their child was a boy.

Pulliam and James wrote "It's a BOY!!" as the caption for a picture of them shooting blue powder out of confetti cannons.
