History: The First Woman to Complete a Degree in Katsina State
Hajiya Hassu Iro Inko was born on November 10, 1936, in Kankia town in Katsina. She started her primary education in Mani (1942-44). Then she continued her studies at Federal School Katsina (1944). Then she went out of town to continue her secondary education at the Government Girls School in Sakkoto (1945). Katsina Middle School (1946-47). She then continued her studies at Kano Girls' School (1947-49). She passed Kano Women's College (1950-51). She was at Advanced Teacher's College Zaria from 1969-71 to get her National Certificate of Education, in 1972. She got her Diploma at Institute of Education ABU Zaria, between 1971 and 1972 she studied at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where she got degree in education where she became the first woman to graduate in Katsina state. She also studied at Nottingham University England (1972-73).
Hajiya Hassu Iro Inko started working as an assistant teacher at practicing school Katsina from 1952-54. Teacher at Katsina Girls' College between 1954 - 1964; Headmistress of Girls Day Primary School, Katsina, 1965-69; President of the College of Women Teachers, Katsina, 1973-1976; President of the College of Women Teachers, Kabomo, 1976.
She was the Federal Electoral Commissioner in Lagos (1976-78), Minna (1979), Abuja (1980-82) and Kano (1983). After her tenure at the Federal Electoral Commission, Hajiya Hassu Iro Inko returned to her studies where she was appointed Chief Education Inspector of the Katsina State Inspectorate of Education from 1984 to 1987 and later became the Head of Education (Women) in the Katsina State Ministry of Education. .
