Peace and security will be brought to the region by the Gulf of Guinea countries gathering, according to Buhari.
Muhammadu Buhari, the president of Nigeria, stated that regular gatherings of the nations bordering the Guinea Sea will contribute to regional peace and stability.
President Buhari stressed that the gathering is crucial to resolving issues impacting the region during his remarks at the leaders of the Gulf of Guinea region conference in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
"We must strengthen the meetings of the Gulf of Guinea region and the leaders of the region," he declared, "so that we can have the opportunity to discuss our problems."
And explore for solutions so that the nations in the Guinea Sea region can live in peace, be secure, and grow, urged Buhari.
The President underscored Nigeria's efforts in the Guinea Sea region to combat piracy while urging the other nations in the group to follow Nigeria's lead and pass legislation outlawing piracy.
The meeting's chair, Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, received appreciation from the president of Nigeria for the way he handled the proceedings.
Ambassador Florence Ukonga, the group's departing general secretary, as well as the other leaders of the group were commended by President Buhari for the sacrifices they made in assuming their leadership roles.
