After hitting a landmine that was buried in the Tillaberi region of western Niger, at least 7 soldiers from that nation were killed.
According to a statement made by the Niger Army, the truck hit a land mine early one morning close to the village of Samira while transporting the soldiers' weekly supplies.
One of the locations where the government has been mining gold since 2004 is the village in the southwest of the nation near the borders of Niger and Burkina Faso.
This attack on the Niger army is the most recent in a string of assaults.
