About 400 individuals were killed by the flood in Congo.
In the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, floods and landslides claimed the lives of 400 or so individuals.
Thomas Bakenga, the supervisor of the Kalehe area where the devastated villages are located, stated that at least 394 dead were discovered following the floods last week after the official death toll was reported on Saturday to be at least 203.
Rivers in the Kalehe district of South Kivu province overflowed as a result of the torrential rains that fell on Thursday, triggering landslides that swallowed the communities of Bushushu and Nyamukubi.
142 victims were discovered in Bushushu, 132 in Nyamukubi, and 120 were discovered floating in Lake Kivu close to Idjwi, an island in the middle of the enormous volcanic lake, the official continued.
