China Calls on the UN Secretary-General to Continue Strengthening the Peacekeeping Budget
Dai Bing, the deputy permanent representative of China to the UN, urged the UN Secretary-General to continue bolstering the overall system of budget management for the maintenance of peace, the system of effectively managing internal affairs, and the initiatives to maintain peace.
This was said by Dai Bing on Monday during his statement at the beginning of the second meeting of the management and budget committee of the fifth committee, which was held that day during the 77th UN General Assembly.
He asserts that the first and most crucial foundation for managing MDD concerns is money. Additionally, the cost of peacekeeping is enormous, accounting for the majority of the UN budget. China therefore consistently requests that the Fifth Committee of the UN General Assembly properly examine the budget for peacekeeping on the basis of scientific theories and observations and provide the resources required to run peacekeeping operations efficiently.
China, according to Dai Bing, supports the Financial Audit Committee's efforts to monitor the budget management system carefully, provide insightful recommendations, and carry out their task.
He continued by saying that China is helping the UN meet its commitment to promptly pay compensation to the nations who contribute to police and military.
