Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State deposed the chiefs of Piriga and Arak - Jonathan Paragua Zamuna and General Aliyu Iliyah Yammah (retired).

The commissioner of the local governments of the state, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, announced that the work of the deposed rulers has come to an end from Monday.

According to the statement, "The Governor of Kurama, Babangida Sule, will take care of the affairs of Piriga Kingdom, until the appointment of a new king, while the secretary of the royal council has been ordered to start preparations for the appointment of a new king."

"Governor Ahmadu, the Secretary of the Arak Council, will take care of the affairs of the kingdom and lead the preparations for the appointment of the new king.

"The government is not satisfied with the explanation of General Iliyah Yammah on the question he was asked about the appointment of four governors, contrary to those approved in his kingdom, and the reason for his absence in the Kingdom of Arak.

"Jonathan Zamuna was impeached after the ethnic conflict between the people of Gure and Kitimi of Piriga in Lere Local Government, and his absence in the kingdom."

The statement also announced the dismissal of the village chiefs of Aban, Abujan Mada and Anjil in the emirate without delay.

Last weekend, El-Rufai vowed to continue evicting squatters and demolishing illegal buildings until the end of his tenure.

The governor will leave office next week after serving two consecutive terms.
