Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, 32, was arrested in Rio de Janeiro on July 10 after nurses became suspicious of his behavior during two C-sections that day and secretly recorded him during a third when he reportedly hit the patient.
Police were already looking into whether the first two patients had been attacked, and now they say that three more women who were treated by him on different days have come forward to say that he hurt them. This makes at least six women who say he hurt them.
Bezerra went to court for the first time on Tuesday. A judge put him in solitary prison for as long as the case is being looked into.

Medical malpractice has been charged, and the investigation is just getting started. Bezerra and the other doctors who were involved have not put forward a defense.
Bezerra is now a licensed anesthetist. He just got his license in April of this year. He is now being accused of using his new job to commit at least one horrible rape on a pregnant woman and maybe even more.
In the case that led to his arrest, Bezerra is said to have given the woman having a C-section so much medicine that she was barely awake.
Experts told Globo that this level of sedation is rare during regular procedures and is usually only used on patients who are in pain or who might fight against surgery.
As the doctors worked to deliver the baby, Bezerra is said to have stood near the woman's head. His gown was set up so that the rest of the team, who were only a few feet away, couldn't see her from the neck up.
Then, he is said to have raped her by kissing her mouth for 10 minutes, scaring away a nurse who tried to get close.
