Moon sighted in Nigeria, Friday Eid-ul-Fitr — Sultan
Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has announced that Eid-el-Fitri will be celebrated all over the country on Friday, April 21, 2023.
This was what the Sultan said Thursday night during a live show to the whole country from his palace in Sokoto.
In his message, Sultan says that Ramadan will end on Thursday, April 21, 2023, which is the same as the 29th day of Ramadan.
According to the statement, "The Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs and the National Moon Sighting Committee received reports from different Moon Sightings across the country confirming the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal 1444AH on Thursday, April 20, 2023, which was the 29th day of Ramadan 1444AH."
"Because of this, today, April 20, 2023, is the 29th day of Ramadan 1444AH."
Eid al Fitr Moon Sighting
He said that the moon sighting group had heard from people in different parts of the country that they had seen the moon.
Sultan Abubakar congratulates the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and asks them to keep praying for the country's peace, progress, and development. He also prays that Allah will guide and bless them.
He prayed that God would show all the newly chosen leaders in the country how to run the country in a good way.
