Police Arrested 55 Secret Gang Members In Rivers
55 people who are allegedly members of a cult organisation suspected of carrying out atrocities in the Diobu neighbourhood of Fatakwal, the state's capital, have been detained by the Rivers State Police.
On Tuesday, they were found at their hiding place in the Diobu neighbourhood.
They were detained, according to a source who wished to remain anonymous, by the police squad battling the cult members attacking the Mile 1 police station.
The army had warned the members of the secret gang committing the crimes in the Diobu area to accept peace and put an end to their fight five days before the searches and arrests, according to LEADERSHIP.
If you recall, the group members engaged in conflict with a secret group among themselves in the Fatakwal neighbourhood of Diobu, leading to the deaths of approximately 15 people.
The arrest in Fatakwal town was verified to the media by Grace Iringe-Koko, the state police force's spokesperson.
Grace did not specify how many members of the covert group were detained during the operation, but she did indicate that the police carried it out in response to a nearby argument between the group's members.
