The longest-reigning king has passed away
His Excellency Joseph Davies-Agba, the traditional chief of Obudu Local Government in Kuros Riba State, has passed away, according to the king's family.
His son, Mr. Kjay Jedy-Agba, announced Davies-Agba's passing in a statement on Sunday in Kalaba.
I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of my dear father, His Highness, Joseph Davies-Agba, OON, President and Vice-Chancellor of Kuros Riba State University, Uti Item III nq Utugwang, Uti Ukani I of Obudu.
"He began his customary rule 64 years ago, making him the continent of Africa's oldest traditional king.
As a result of his position as a king, "we, the immediate family, may not have detailed knowledge about his last burial ritual," the statement read. "We are forced to follow the custom of our people in all aspects that will lead to the fulfillment of its final events.
The message said that after the traditional center has finished making plans, they will learn more specifics about the funeral.
