Tinubu will decide when to do the census in 2023.

The President-elect's administration, led by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will set a new date for the census of Nigerians after taking office on May 29.

According to reports, President Muhammadu Buhari decided to change the date of the 2023 census, which was originally planned to take place between the third and seventh of May 2003. the census should be completed.

"Buhari insisted on the census," according to a statement made by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, "after he had a meeting in Abuja with some of the members of the Executive Council, including the Chairman of the National Census Commission and his team."

After 17 years without a census, Mohammed added, "During the discussion, it was stressed the need of national and household censuses.

The census will give the government the chance to learn more about Nigerians, which would enable it to further improve their quality of life.

According to reports, the agency's head disclosed that not all of the supplies needed to conduct the census had yet been delivered during a meeting with a few foreign ambassadors last Thursday in Abuja.

However, the President announced that supplies for the census would be delivered in the coming days. According to him, Nigeria needs to receive 800,000 small computers, of which 500,000 have already been delivered.

In a similar vein, the agency's head of daily operations, Dr. Isiaka Yahaya, was quoted as saying that the census was delayed not due to a lack of funding but rather so that it could be carried out by the next administration.
