The PDP has warned its members of parliament that they must remain loyal to the party
Umar Damagum, the PDP's acting chairman, urged the party's 116 elected members of the federal parliament to obey the party that had propelled them to this position.
At a meeting with them on Tuesday in Abuja, where it was apparent that the time for the election of the speakers of the two houses of parliament is drawing near, Damagum revealed this.
The event takes place as the race for Speaker of the House and Deputy Speaker of the House intensifies.
The election of the Speaker of the House divided the 116 PDP lawmakers.
Many of them have joined the Maja group, which has decided to implement the APC's acceptance-acceptance system for electing parliament leaders.
The chairman of the Maja is Rivers-based PDP member Kingsley Chinda, who is also Gombe State-born Bello Kumo.
Damagum claimed that while he is aware of the PDP's internal strife, it can resolve these issues on its own.
"You need to have courage. And respect your nation. your party follows. Being loyal to your country comes first since it is the only way to become a member of parliament.
They accepted the terms of the acceptance on Tuesday in Abuja, when they unveiled their'maja' campaign, which they later dubbed "Join Task" in English.
The eight parties represented on the council are the APC, PDP, LP, NNPP, APGA, SDP, ADC, and YPP.
However, not all of the kakaf council's members consented to join this majar.
Honourable Bello Kumo, an APC member from Gombe, stated during the maja's launch that the participants still do not have a candidate they are backing. However, they are awaiting the release of the acceptance-acceptance plan by the APC, the current government, and the majority of lawmakers.
"At this moment, we want Nigerians to know that we are prepared to work on improving our lives and growing the nation.
If we want to carry out this wise decision, we must collaborate with the government's executive branch without sacrificing our rights as legislators or the rights of others.
The 10th Congress' goodness, as well as the nation's unity, peace, and stability, are what worries us the most.
The choice of the Speaker of the House would not be determined by House of Representatives members, according to Aliyu Madaki, a member of the NNPP from Kano. However, they are only giving APC the chance to produce leaders in line with the framework that the world is most content with.
He asserted that in every democracy, the party with the majority has the power to oust the members of the parliament.
"As a member of the opposition party, I will speak out vehemently against this, but not selfishly. I'll be against it so that we can protect the factors that will help this nation develop economically.
PDP has 116, LP 38, NNPP 19, and APC 177 representatives. APGA has five, ADC two, SDP two, and YPP one.
Kingsley Chinda of the PDP from Rivers serves as the second chairman of the party, with Kumo of Gombe serving as the party's chairman. Ali Madaki, a member of the NNPP from Kano, is now Maja's secretary.
