The protesters demanded the expulsion of the UN ambassador from Sudan
As reported by the pro-military TV channel, protesters approached Volker Perthes' home in Port Sudan, the country's east, demanding that he be ejected from the Red Sea region. Perthes is the director of the United Nations mission in Sudan.
Days after fighting broke out between the RSF forces and the Sudanese army on April 15, Mr. Perthes and other UN representatives left the capital, Khartoum, and headed back to Port Sudan.
According to the Tayba TV channel, "The people of the Red Sea state surrounded Volker's house and demanded that he be expelled from the state immediately."
The television displayed images and videos of demonstrators brandishing Sudanese flags and placards.
