Thousands of people in western Kenya have been killed by floods.
According to Kisumu province authorities, catastrophic flooding last week in Western Kenya affected thousands of residents.
Within a week, the floods in western Kenya affected almost 5,000 homes.
There haven't been any fatalities yet, but if the rain keeps coming, it's feared that things might get worse.
Hussein Alanson Hussein, the acting provincial commissioner for Kisumu, has urged residents to relocate away from Lake Victoria and the banks of the Nyando River in order to save their lives.
He told the BBC, "We're going to get more rain, and from what we've seen, we want people living along the Nyando River to move somewhere else to save their lives."
According to Mr. Hussein, the local administration has set up an evacuation center for those impacted by the tragedy, where the families are currently residing in a given shelter.
He requested assistance from the National Disaster Management Centre for the victims' basic needs.
The past month has seen widespread torrential rainfall across the nation.
