6 civilians died in an attack by Al-Shebaab on a hotel in Mogadishu
As a result of the Al-Shabaab fighters' attack and their hour-long occupation of a hotel on the shore of Mogadishu, the country's capital, the Somali police said that six people had died and ten more had been injured.
Around 8:00 on Friday night, seven assailants brought him to the Pearl Beach Hotel, a well-known location on the Liido coast of Mogadishu. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
After a bloody firefight between them and the security personnel, the hotel was under siege until around 2:00 in the morning.
Self-described jihadists with ties to Al-Qaeda have been carrying out attacks against the internationally supported government and hotels that once hosted senior Somali and foreign officials for more than 15 years.
