APC Requests Abba To Demolish The Buildings That Kwankwaso Sold

The opposition party, APC, has requested the government of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State to extend the deadline for confiscating some properties and demolishing some in the state to others sold by his father Rabi'u Kwankwaso.

Abba was a special assistant and later became a commissioner to Kwankwaso when he was the governor of the state between 1999 and 2003 and 2011 and 2015.

Less than 72 hours after he was sworn in on May 29, Abba ordered the demolition of properties he claimed were illegally sold by the previous administration.

He also claimed that some properties were built on government land illegally.

Between Saturday and Tuesday, the government demolished at least four buildings.

Last Saturday, a three-storey building with 90 shops was demolished in the Nassarawa area of the state.

On this day, the government demolished the Daula Hotel, the hotel that the Ganduje government sold and rebuilt under the cooperation of some businessmen.

The government also demolished a building in the state's Pilgrim camp.

On Monday, the government demolished shops in Kantin Kwari market; she claimed that the shops were built on a plot of land that was illegally sold.

Other places that were reported to have been painted red include the Shahuqi Shopping Market, the former building of the Triumph Newspaper Company, which was sold to traders.

"Government properties at number 5, 6, and 7 on Bala Muhammed Road. Government property number 132 on Dawaki Street and number 13 on Ali Akilu Street was sold by the Kwankwaso government.

"Government properties numbered 193, 194, 196, 197, 198 and 920 on Ahmadu Bello Street were sold by the Kwankwaso government, and Governor Ganduje used them," said Iliyasu.

APC claimed that Abba was Kwankwaso's secretary when these properties were sold
