Famine kills people in Ethiopia due to lack of support

After the UN and the US stopped giving food aid to Ethiopia, hundreds of people in the Tigray area died of hunger.

The United Nations and the United States stopped giving help when they found out in March that food for the poor was being stolen.

But in June, they made the ban impact 20 million people in need in other parts of Ethiopia. That's one sixth of the country's population.

Since food help was stopped in March, there have been reports of 728 deaths caused by hunger in three of the seven regions.

The head of the Humanitarian Commission stated that the only people who heard this speech were the district officials.

The US aid agencies found out in the middle of March that food aid for at least 134,000 people was being sold in the market.
