Hajj 2023: 6 Nigerian Pilgrims Die, 30 Have Mental Illness In Saudi Arabia

Six of the 95,000 Nigerian pilgrims making the Ibadan Hajj this year have perished in Saudi Arabia while attempting the trek.

Dr. Usman Galadima, the head of the medical staff in charge of the Nigerian pilgrims, saw this last Saturday night in Makkah.

Two of the deceased pilgrims were from Osun state, one was from Kaduna, and the other was an Alhaji from the Plateau, according to Usman, who was speaking at a meeting with stakeholders about the preparations to climb Arfa.

He didn't explain why some of the pilgrims passed away from heart attacks and other illnesses.

Galadima also stated that thirty pilgrims are currently struggling with mental problems.

The pilgrims would have the chance to complete their Hajj, he said, adding, "The situation they are in now is very easy."

Even pregnant ladies, he continued, were discovered during this year's hajj, including two from Sokoto, one from Adamawa, and pilgrims from Kwara, Yobe, Plateau, and Katsina states.

Galadima stated that one Alhaji with diabetes had his leg removed and that there had been two abortions.
