Kenya has taxed the people of the country to revive the economy

The new law to raise the amount of taxes the government levies on various significant items that have an impact on the people of the country, such as fuel and housing rent, has been approved to by Kenyan President William Ruto.

The National Assembly last week adopted a new tax law that boosts rents and doubles the tax rate on fuel to 16 percent. Critics of the administration call these changes needless. which will make things worse for the poor Kenyan people after they already have to deal with the high cost of goods.

Since taking office in September, President William Ruto has been attempting to find new sources of income for the government to help resuscitate the nation's failing economy—a challenge that he inherited from his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto claimed that the government will be able to generate more income through the new tax hike law, which will amount to more than $2 billion annually.
