Nigeria security is not easy - Irabor

Although providing security for a large country like Nigeria is not simple, retired Nigerian Chief of Defence General Lucky Irabor asserted that it is a goal that can be attained.

This was mentioned by General Irabor in a speech he gave on Friday at the retirement ceremony held for him at the military barracks in Abuja, the nation's capital, and the cantonment of Mogadishu.

He claimed that the army still has a lot of work to do in order to provide the nation with the security it needs.

Additionally, he expressed his gratitude for his commitment to the nation's military efforts and promised to leave the army in a better state than when he arrived.

The former defence commander urged the populace to desist from actions that would harm the reputation of the nation's armed services.

He declared that the army is prepared to bring about peace and harmony and to defend the lives of the populace.

He also hoped that the incoming defence secretary would put an emphasis on modernising the nation's military forces.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Irabor to succeed Abayomi Olonisakin as the nation's top security official in 2021.
