Nigeria: There is a chance that Tinubu will force 100 top military officers to retirement
Nigerian generals, brigadier-generals, air vice marshals, and admirals in the air, ground, and naval forces may be forced to quit after President Bola Ahmed Tinbu chose new security chiefs. Some major newspapers said he did, and it's true.
As a result of this forced resignation, some military officers will be promoted to replace those who have left. This is part of how the new defence officers will reorganise the forces.
This comes 8 months after some high-ranking military leaders, including 24 generals and 35 brigadier generals, quit after 35 years of service.
President Tinubu recently said that General Lucky Irabor, who was Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, who was Chief of Army Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, who was Chief of Navy, and Air Marshal Oludayo Amao, who was Chief of Air Force, would be leaving their jobs.
Major General Christopher Musa, who was named Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, who was named Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, who was named Chief of Navy, and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, who was named Chief of Air Force, are the new Chiefs of Defence.
