Nigeria will be represented at a world chemistry event by a boy from Anambra.
Favour Chigozie Nwadinobi, a student at Premium Breed Secondary School in Nnewichi Nnewi, Anambra State, has been found to be the best in Chemistry in all of Anambra.
So, he is one of the six finalists who will go on to represent Nigeria at the International Chemistry Olympiad in Switzerland in 2023.
Nwadinobi fought against students from over 600 schools in Anambra to become one of the finalists who would represent the country.
In his speech, Nwadinobi said that his success was because of God, his teachers, and how hard he worked at school.
Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the state commissioner for education, welcomed the team to her office at the State Secretariat Complex in Awka on Friday. She said again that Nwadinobi's achievement showed that the State Government was committed to giving Anambra students every chance to do well in school, both nationally and internationally.
Chuma-Udeh praised Nwadinobi and the School for their great work and stressed how important it is to keep working hard and being dedicated.
She told them not to rest on their laurels because the state was looking forward to seeing them do well at the Olympiad.
In his comment, the Education Secretary of the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi, Ven. Henry Nduka JP, said that the achievement showed that the current government is committed to helping its children do well in school and encouraging them to do so.
Canon Nwajide, the head of the school, thanked the state government for creating a good setting for education in Anambra. He also said that the school came in first, second, and third at the state level of the competition.
